Putting the right kit in the right hands - everywhere.

WHY IT MATTERS

The knowledge of the world's forests doesn't belong only to those with the budget to access it. Arbcycle is a community driven equipment sharing initiative that collects, safety-checks, and redistributes quality second-hand tree climbing gear to researchers, scientists, and environmentalists who do not have the resources to access it. So the people who are closest to the forest, and hold the deepest knowledge of it, can be the ones who study and protect it.

€4,000 per person

The average cost to train a single climber to a high standard and fully kit them out with safe, long-lasting equipment . This is out of reach for most researchers outside well funded institutions.

Unequal access

Research opportunities, funding, and fieldwork jobs too often go to those from wealthier institutes and overlook those that hold invaluable cultural and ecological knowledge of the forests being studied.

Qualified inspection

Safety comes first, always. Every piece of donated equipment is carefully inspected and approved by our certified team before it is redistributed.

HOW ARBCYCLE WORKS

1

Donate your unused kit

Climbers, retailers, and manufacturers drop off good-condition second-hand equipment at one of our collection points- This includes gear that can't be sold due to mis-labelling or packaging issues but is perfectly safe to use.

Group learning

2

We inspect everything

Our fully qualified team carries out safety checks on every donation. Kit that passes goes into the pool; anything that doesn't is disposed of responsibly.

We are not a dumping ground for old ropes and retired gear. Donated equipment must meet the same safety standards we expect and follow in the EU. The fact that equipment is donated does not make the safety of its users any less important. Everyone deserves access to reliable, safe equipment, regardless of where they live.

Equipment reaches those who need it

Researchers and scientists worldwide particularly those in regions without access to funding or equipment supply chains, receive kits that open doors to fieldwork, jobs, and research opportunities.

"The forest has already been studied for thousands of years by the people who belong to it. We're just here to make sure they have the rope.”
