Pre-Course Requirements
Participants should have:

• Completed a minimum of one full-time fieldwork season (minimum 6 weeks) or

• Logged at least 150 climbing hours following Level 1 training or an equivalent qualification

• A solid baseline of fitness and confidence working at height is required for this course.

Course Overview

Level 2 introduces advanced climbing techniques designed to access higher areas of the canopy and move efficiently out toward the outer crown of the tree.

Building on the foundations established in Level 1, this course combines both Stationary Rope Technique (SRT) and Moving Rope Technique (MRT) to provide greater flexibility and efficiency when working within a complex three-dimensional living structure.

Training focuses on dynamic movement, canopy positioning, efficient work techniques, and increased access throughout the tree crown while maintaining safe and controlled systems of movement.

Due to the increased complexity of the climbing systems and rescue procedures taught at this level, all Level 2 climbing operations should be carried out with a minimum of two qualified climbers on site at all times. Rescue scenarios at this level are significantly more technical, and all team members must be capable of assisting in, or carrying out, an aerial rescue if required.
